What is a Claims Adjuster?

An adjuster is an insurance expert who evaluates your insurance claim and determines how much you should be paid for your property damage based on the evidence at hand. There are three types of insurance adjusters:

Company / Staff Adjuster

Employee of the insurance company. They must follow strict guidelines set forth by the insurance company.

Independent Adjuster

May work for multiple insurance companies as an independent contractor, and is hired by the insurance company. They follow strict guidelines set forth by the insurance company.

Public Adjuster

Represents the policyholder, and who is an insurance claim expert who works exclusively for you. Licensed, bonded, and evaluated by the state,. A public adjuster has no ties with the insurance company, and as an expert employed by you, it is in their interest to get you the maximum settlement possible.

Our Responsibilities As Public Adjusters

  • Evaluate all existing insurance policies in order to determine what coverage may be applicable to a claim
  • Research, detail, and substantiate damage to buildings and contents and any additional expenses
  • Determine values for settling covered damages
  • Prepare, document and support the claim on behalf of the insured
  • Negotiate a settlement with the insurance company on behalf of an insured
  • Evaluate business interruption losses and extra expense claim for businesses
  • *Re-open a claim and negotiate for more money if a discrepancy is found after the claim has been settled
